  1. SPSS Help provides
  2.   • Online instructions for using SPSS.
  3.   • Syntax charts for SPSS commands.

  5. Note:  Help does not explain or give examples of
  6. SPSS commands. These are found in the Command
  7. Generator window.

  9. HELP FOR BOXES AND WINDOWS
  10.   To get help for any dialog box or window
  11.   that appears on your screen,
  12.   • Choose Help from the Help menu
  13.   or
  14.   • Press H
  15.   The Help dialog box has an index on the left.
  16.   and a box containing information for the 
  17.   selected topic on the right.
  18.   Click any item in the index to display
  19.   information about that item.

  21. COMMAND KEY EQUIVALENTS
  22.   To request a list of the functions you can
  23.   perform with Command keys, select 
  24.   "Command Keys" from the Index.

  26. SPSS COMMAND SYNTAX
  27.   To see the syntax chart for any command in
  28.   SPSS, select the command name from the index.
  29.   All syntax charts are at the end of the index.

  31.   This shows only the syntax chart.  For a
  32.   description of the subcommands or keywords on
  33.   a command, open the SPSS Command Generator
  34.   window, select an item, and read the 
  35.   description.
